Jep's Story — From Seizures to Symptom-Free
Of all the cases I've worked with, Jep's is one that stays with me. He is a four-year-old dog whose journey to healing was anything but straightforward — and whose recovery has been nothing short of remarkable.
🐕 Case Study — Canine Lyme Disease
Jep — 4-Year-Old Dog, Lyme Disease with Focal Seizures
Jep came to me with a history that raised red flags from the very beginning. His owner had noticed something was off for months — but getting to the bottom of it took time, persistence, and a willingness to look beyond the obvious.
Puppyhood (8–12 weeks): Received a 5-way vaccine from the breeder plus a dewormer, followed by rabies and parvo from the vet around 4–6 months old. No vaccines since then.
Early signs: Jep began dribbling urine in the house — a subtle but significant symptom. His vet tested for a UTI, found nothing, and prescribed antibiotics anyway. His owner wisely chose not to give them.
December 2024: Jep had an episode where he was clearly not himself — sensitive to touch, withdrawn, and in pain. His vet suspected a pulled muscle. It would happen again every couple of months.
Progressive symptoms: Twitching in his sleep, heavy breathing, rear-end tremors caught on video. A lump appeared in his right armpit — consistent with a mast cell response. Episodes of not wanting to run, play, or be touched.
